The fact that Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee have come together to make Bombay Talkies, a collection of four short films that mark 100 years of Indian cinema, is well known. But for the past few days, the buzz was that Ranbir Kapoor will be associated with the project. It was suggested that the actor will play the sutradhar (narrator) who will string together the four films. Not only this, Ranbir was also tipped to be feature in a music video to promote Bombay Talkies. But now, we have come to know that the Kapoor scion isn’t likely to be part of the film at all.

“We have been trying to rope in Ranbir for a special video that the makers wanted, but he won’t be able to take time out due to his hectic schedule,” informs a source close to the project. Not only that, the actor was supposed to play a role in Dibakar’s short film, which also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui. But due to a packed shooting schedule, the actor hasn’t committed to it yet. When asked about this, Ranbir says, “I was initially supposed to be part of Dibakar’s film, but due to date issues and unavailability, I am not attached to the project till date.”

Ranbir’s schedule is packed with back-to-back films , Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Abhinav Singh Kashyap’s Besharam, Anurag’s Bombay Velvet, followed
by Imtiaz Ali’s yet-untitled film.
