His grandfather, the legendary Raj Kapoor, gave Bollywood some of the best classics of all times with his famed production banner, RK Films. And now, even as another RK — Ranbir Kapoor — is all geared up to make his debut as a producer himself with Jagga Jasoos, he has struck gold already, with Disney UTV reportedly pumping in `100cr in his film as co-producers.
Ranbir Kapoor is on a promotional spree these days. The actor spoke about his upcoming film Besharam at a recent event where he also cut his birthday cake. Take a look! (AFP Photo)
“Earlier, I used to think that production is not my place but now ... well, yes, I have turned producer for this film. However, it’s not me to quote numbers, so I’d keep mum on the figure being quoted,” said the 31-year-old during his visit to HT House on Monday, to interact with the lucky winners of HT City’s Stars in the City contest on his upcoming film, Besharam.
With mum-dad Rishi and Neetu Kapoor as co-stars, we asked Ranbir if it was like family on the sets of the film. “Working with your parents can be a nightmare but thankfully my parents are two wonderful actors, and nobody got home matters to the sets or took back the sets home. Yeah, mom would sometimes be nervous about perfecting her Haryanvi accent for the film, but that was about it,” said Ranbir, who plays the role of a car thief, Babli, in the film. Babli? But that’s a female name! “You see, I play an orphan in the film and nobody gives an aesthetic name to kids at the orphanages so they end of getting names like Babloo, Tublu, Babli,” he said before breaking into a jig on the title track of the film on a fan’s behest.
