Karan Johar has got together Rani Mukerji
and Randeep Hooda in his short film for Bombay Talkies. Vouching for their chemistry, he says: “Chemistry between Rani and Randeep is very interesting. You will find out. Rani immediately came to my mind when I thought about this project. Randeep was recommended by the casting director.”
The 40-year-old reveals that the actors didn’t charge a penny for doing the film. “We had limited budget (Rs 1.5 crore) and they did this film free of cost,” says KJo.
Talking about the project, he adds, “I’m excited. This format is unusual and challenging. Four directors have come together to make one solid product. Zoya (Akhtar, one of the four directors) was instrumental in getting me on board. Human drama and emotions are quintessential part of my films, which is true for this one as well.”
The filmmaker will also be co-judging the sixth season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, along with actor Madhuri Dixit
and choreographer Remo D’Souza. “I’m very excited about Jhalak. It’s a classic TV show. All three of us had a great time last season.”
He had put up quite a performance on the Radha song from Student Of The Year, last year. This time around, he has learnt a few steps of B-boying (a dance form) for the promo of the dance reality show. “Dancing comes naturally as I’m a Punjabi. All Punjabis can dance (laughs),” says KJo, also revealing that his much-anticipated chat show, Koffee With Karan (Season 4), will return in October this year.
Karan Johar's part stars Rani Mukerji, Randeep Hooda and Saqib Saleem and sees Rani playing a sexually repressed housewife as well as a journalist.
