Rekha has acted in over 180 films in a career spanning over 40 years. She has achieved commercial success as well as critical acclaim for her marvellous performances.
Last year, Sridevi made a successful return to Bollywood with English Vinglish. Her character Shashi's resolve to learn English and earn her family's respect won her a lot of appreciation.
It seems Rekha, who was last seen in the 2010 dud Sadiyaan, is playing similar character in her next
film, Super Nani. Co-star Sharman Joshi reveals, "It's an exciting, out-of-the-box film, in the space of English Vinglish. It's also something Rekha has done before - lots of drama, comedy and entertainment."
Explaining the similarity of Rekha's character to Sri's Shashi, Sharman says, "It's about the disappearance of grace and dignity in a grandmother's life, and how she gets it back with the help of her grandson."
Super Nani is adapted from a Marathi play, and also stars Randhir Kapoor opposite Rekha. An excited Sharman says, "The play, Bai Mari Boundary, is a family comedy-drama. Besides Rekha, I'm getting to work with Randhir Kapoor, another legend. For me, it's a great learning experience on and off the sets."
Sharman earlier worked with Rekha over a decade ago in Lajja (2001). "I played her son in that film. This time, I play her grandson," he says. His co-star in the film will be Indra Kumar's daughter, Shweta Kumar.
