After venturing into action-dramas like Race 2, Agent Vinod (2012) and Aarakshan (2011) and experimenting with a zom-com, Go Goa Gone, Saif Ali Khan is now set to tread on familiar territory. The actor will now be seen in a full-fledged comedy titled, Humshakals, which will be directed by Sajid Khan.
Though the name does hint at what the storyline could revolve around, a source close to the director reveals that the actor will be seen in a triple role for the first time in his career. “It’s a catchy script and Saif’s three characters are different but equally interesting,” says the source.
The film, co-produced by Fox Star Studios and Vashu Bhagnani’s Puja Entertainment, offers a brand of comedy synonymous with Khan. It will also feature two other male leads. “Ram Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh also have triple roles in the film,” says the source.
After Bullett Raja, this is the second film Saif is doing with Fox Star Studios. Reportedly, south actor Tamannah, who made her Bollywood debut with Sajid’s Himmatwala, has been roped in to play the lead opposite Saif. However, the makers are yet to decide on the other female leads. “Talks are on with a couple of actors, but they are yet to sign anyone,” says the source. The film is set to go on the floors in September and may hit theatres on June 6, 2014.
When contacted a senior official of Fox Star confirmed the development on the condition of anonymity.
