Reams of newsprint were devoted to the buzz surrounding Rajkumar Hirani’s hit Munna Bhai franchise’s third instalment, titled Munna Bhai Chale Amerika. Fans were waiting to see Munna bhai team up with Circuit once again, but now Arshad Warsi has squashed all speculations by confirming that the third
film has been scrapped, but the team is working on an equally heart-warming story.
Sanjay Dutt continued his success trip in Bollywood after Vaastav. He gave us films like Pitaah, Mission Kashmir and Munnabhai MBBS that won critical acclaim for the actor. Munnabhai MBBS also went on to win a National Award for Best Popular Film in 2004.
“Munna Bhai Chale Amerika is not happening. We’re working on another Munnabhai script but I can’t speak about it. It’s absolutely fabulous but I cannot reveal the name right now. The story will touch your heart and we all are very close to it,” says Arshad.
The actor further shares that there wasn’t any doubt among the core team about continuing the series, they were just waiting for everybody to be free to start working on it. “There was no question about it not happening. The only question was when it would take place, the matter was only stuck because of our dates,” he says.
Arshad laughs out loud when told about the gossip that the makers are replacing Sanjay Dutt and himself with Aamir Khan and Sharman Joshi. “The script is ready and so are we. We are all geared up to work in the film,” he says.
Raju is set to shoot his next P.K. and Sanjay and Arshad are committed to a couple of other projects in the first half of the year. “Once Raju is relatively free, and Sanju and I are as well, we can start shooting. We are all planning to begin by year-end,” says Arshad.
