Shah Rukh Khan’s latest release has been breaking records all over. Chennai Express (CE) is the fastest Rs. 100 crore grosser, and has also broken the long-standing record held by Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots (2009).
Shahrukh and Deepika arrive at the Lobndon premiere of Chennai Express.
Aamir’s film was so far considered the highest grosser as it made Rs. 202.47 cr
but Chennai Express has surpassed it by earning Rs. 202.67 cr, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh. “Yes it has broken all the records now. I can’t predict how much it will make ultimately but it’s still doing very well,” says Taran.
Trade analyst Amod Mehra seconds this and says that by the end of CE’s second week it was quite apparent that it would cross Rs. 200 cr. “The film’s shows are fewer, but it is collecting well even now. It’s maintaining Rs. 3 to Rs. 4 cr every day and this weekend it might go up to R5 cr. This had to happen because not many people are going to have coffee at Madras Café (that released this Friday),” says Amod.
