She’s been attracting attention for her sultry acts, but Jacqueline Fernandes has also got quite a quirky tag now – replacement queen. After all, the Sri Lankan model has replaced Mallika Sherawat in Murder 2, besides making her way into Housefull 2. And next year, she will also be seen in Raaz 3
after Bipasha Basu and Kangna Ranaut.
“It’s really uncanny that I am doing the sequels of three super-hit films. Sometimes I feel every director who is making a sequel gives me a call. It’s really weird, actually,” she laughs, adding with a straight face. “It’s not an issue of replacing anyone. Makers are possibly casting me and not repeating actors because there’s a complete change in the narrative.”
The ex-Miss Sri Lanka feels it’s not fair to compare the films with their predecessors. “If sequels had the same story line or a continued narrative from the first film, I would understand, but that’s not the case at all. And maybe, original actors don’t fit the part any longer. So, let me clarify that I am not deliberately replacing anyone in sequels,” says she.
The actor is also quick to rubbish all talks of comparisons with Mallika Sherawat as her upcoming Murder 2 gears up for release. “Apart from the title, the two films share no similarity,” she says.
