Shootout At Wadala mints Rs. 10.01 crore on opening day

Shootout At Wadala has reportedly created a landmark in the history of A- certifcates in Hindi cinema.

The box office collections on the opening day amount to Rs. 10.01 crore. Surprisingly, Bombay Talkies that released on the same day had an opening day collection of Rs. 1.01 crore. 

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweets, "#ShootoutAtWadala Fri 10.1 cr... Amongst the top openers of the year!"

The grand opening at box office has the actors of Shootout At Wadala rejoicing. Manoj Bajpai tweeted this morning, "Fri 10.1CR... The Higest "A" certificate opening in the history of Indian cin?ma ... #ShootoutAtWadala". Manoj plays the role of Zubair Imtiaz Haskar, allegedly based on Dawood Ibrahim's elder brother Sabir Kaskar, in Shootout At Wadala. 




Sunny Leone who has an item song in the film writes on Twitter, "#shootoutatwadala @shootoutwadala nets 10.1 cr at the domestic box office on friday ! Congrats everyone" 

John Abraham plays the lead role, gangster Manya Surve, in Shootout At Wadala, a film that chronicles arguably first encounter by Mumbai Police.

Director Sanjay Gupta's gangster flick Shootout At Wadala has earned some praise from the critics for the entertaining element it has. Plot doesn't seem to be too different from the usual mafia movie fare but it does hold its own. Though the movie has its share of loop holes, it still manages to get a nod from most reviewers. John Abraham flaunts retro sunglasses in Shootout at Wadala
Mumbai-based designer Kunal Rawal, who specialises in menswear, has designed golden frame aviator sunglasses for actor John Abraham. The sunglasses depict the 1980s looks and the actor will be seen flaunting these in his forthcoming film, Shootout at Wadala. Rawal said he and his team had to visit over 75 stores before he finalised the design. "The search wasn't easy for us. My team visited every nook and corner of the antique stores at Grant Road and Dadar and also Delhi, which indeed made our Bollywood hunk John Abraham complete his 1980s look," said Rawal in a statement. John Abraham, Anil Kapoor and the cast of their film, Shootout At Wadala (SAW), made the most of their recent promotional visit to Dubai. Even though their trip was packed with activities, the actors spent a few hours at The Rashid Centre, an institute for special children in Dubai. As a matter of fact, John and Anil even entertained the children, as they danced to some songs from their film. “The kids were so thrilled to see them; some even joined the stars while they were performing,” says a source close to the team. John Abraham fills in for Kangana Ranaut
Usually, it’s the entire star cast that goes to various cities and attends multiple events to promote their upcoming film, but for Shootout At Wadala (SAW), John Abraham has mostly been flying solo. And while he’s at it, the actor, ever the ladies’ man, has been taking up for co-star Kangana Ranaut, who is busy shooting for another film in Wai.

A source says, “Always one to take a back seat, John constantly praises Kangana, calling her a nice human being and one of his finest co-stars. During city tours, interviews and conversations with fans and the media, he’s been talking about her role as well as her professionalism and acting skills. John Abraham on the sets of Bade Achhe Lagte Hain
John Abraham, Sophie Chaudhary and Tushar Kapoor were spotted promoting their upcoming action film, Shootout at Wadala, on the sets of famous television show, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, in Mumbai yesterday.

The film which is based on the first-ever registered encounter by Mumbai police at Wadala, will hit the theatres on 3rd May, 2013. PROMOTIONS

John Abraham felt he can't play Manya Surve
Actor-producer John Abraham initially doubted his ability to portray gangster Manya Surve in Shootout At Wadala. "When I first read the script, I said it's not possible for me to do the film. The image that people had about John Abraham, John also had the same perception about himself. So I said John Abraham cannot play Manya Surve," the 40-year-old said here in an interview.
However, later he took it up as a challenge.

"I was very worried, scared, stressed but I said it was a make-or-break situation for me in my life. If I can play Manya Surve, I will change my image as an actor and I decided to do it. I decided to take up this role and I did it," said the actor seen in films like Dhoom, Water and Force. JOHN ABRAHAM BECOMES MANYA SURVE
