Actor Shreyas Talpade has explored both offbeat as well as commercial cinema in Bollywood. While films like Iqbal (2005) and Dor (2006) got him critical acclaim, Om Shanti Om (2007), Golmaal 3 (2010) and Housefull 2 (2012) were successful at the box office. But the actor still longs to get that one break, and the recognition he feels he deserves.
Shreyas says, “I have not been marketed properly. I come from a theatre background where the first thing we learn is to focus on our performance. So I was not really aware of the fact that I needed to also pay attention to the way I was branded, which is a necessity today.”
The actor also admits that only doing character roles does not necessarily help an actor achieve stardom. “I have dabbled with various genres. Every actor goes through a phase when he feels that if he does a particular kind of a film, he will be propelled to the next level. But unfortunately, things don’t fall into place every time,” says Shreyas.
The actor, however, plans to take things into his own hands and make them work in his favour. “I have learnt my lesson and I intend to work on it,” he affirms.
