Maintaining a good momentum from the opening weekend, Shuddh Desi Romance has collected Rs. 31.27 crore across five days.
Shuddh Desi Romance is said to have a greater budget for print and publicity than for production of the film. Interestingly, the film opened to a decent collection of Rs. 6.45 crore on Friday and has further picked up with time.
After earning Rs. 7.9 crore on Saturday and Rs. 8.92 on Sunday, the Parineeti Chopra, Sushant Singh Rajput and Vaani Kapoor-starrer moved on to earn Rs. 4.79 crore at the ticket windows on Monday. The earnings for Tuesday stood at Rs. 3.21 crore. Considering weekdays, the collections are good.
“They also released the film in limited screens. Out of 1,100 screens, 994 were with multiplexes, so there were only a few single screens showing the film. But its collections are extremely good. On the first day it made around Rs. 6 crore, on the second day about Rs. 7 crore and the figure went up to Rs. 8 crore on Sunday. These are good numbers for a film with no major stars,” trade analyst Amod Mehra told Dibyajyoti Baksi, Hindustan Times.
The film that also marks Bollywood debut of Vaani Kapoor is faring well overseas too, averaging at Rs. 7.5 crore ($1.15 million)
