Actor Sonakshi Sinha, who has done her second special dance number in director Sajid Khan’s film Himmatwala says she hopes to become “queen of item songs” in Bollywood. The song, Thank God Its Friday, is a take on the disco culture of the 80’s. The Dabangg actor did an item number
alongside noted choreographer Prabhu Deva in Akshay Kumar’s film Oh My God which released last year.

Asked if she is looking to become the next item queen, Sonakshi said, “I hope to become one. I like dancing and music. If some good song comes my way I will do it. Both songs in Oh My God and Himmatwala are different.”

The latest song reminds people of actor Parveen Babi and Sridevi. “We have been inspired by what Parveen Babi wore in Shaan and Sridevi’s looks in Chaalbaaz,” she said. Sonakshi is also seen doing Michael Jackson’s famous moonwalk step in the retro song. “As a child, I used to see Michael Jackson’s videos...I used to imitate him. I did not have to do much preparation for the song. I have seen these kind of disco songs. Also people say I have this old world charm...so I have used that,” she added.

“For us Sonakashi was the first and only choice for the song. If she had not agreed we would not have done it,” Sajid said. Himmatwala, featuring Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah in the lead roles, will release on March 29.

She shot to fame even before she was seen on screen. Sonakshi Sinha didn't make headlines just because she was film star Shatrughan Sinha's daughter but also because she made her debut cast was opposite Bollywood biggie Salman Khan in the blockbuster hit Dabangg.
