Sridevi, the Hawa Hawai girl might be making a comeback post 14 years, but her charismatic screen presence continues to mesmerise. In English Vinglish, she plays a housewife who's struggling to learn English.
Her last release was Judaai, back in 1997. Now, 15 years later, as Sridevi returns to Bollywood with English Vinglish, she wants the best possible outing for her comeback movie. No wonder she is insisting on a glitzy premiere for the film despite inhibitions by the makers of the Gauri
Shinde-directed venture.

“R Balki (producer) and Gauri were not too sure about the premiere, but it was Sridevi who insisted on having one. Since it’s her comeback film, besides being Gauri’s debut venture, she wants nothing but the best for the film. Plus, since the film has been received very well at the Toronto International Film Festival, she is confident that the audiences will receive the film well,” says an insider.

Even though details such the date and venue of the premiere are yet to be confirmed, it’s certain that the film will have a grand opening in Mumbai. “Everyone knows how special the film is for Sridevi, so when she showed keenness for a premiere, of course, no one could have said no. So right now, the preparations are being made to give the film a glitzy premiere,” says the insider. He adds, “Sridevi wants a gala premiere to which she can call her close ones with whom she has not been in touch over the years. However, the guest list is not ready yet.”

Last week, Sridevi’s hubby Boney Kapoor held a surprise party at their home to which their close friends were invited. “For all of us who are closely involved with the film and Srideviji, it’s going to be a very special film,” adds the insider. While Sridevi couldn’t be reached for a comment, Gauri confirms briefly, “We all are very excited to have a premiere in Mumbai.”
