Bollywood actors Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol  dance during the music launch of comedy-drama Yamla Pagla Deewana.
The Deol family’s banner, Vijayta Films, which delivered a number of hits in the past such as Betaab (1983), Dillagi (1999) and Apne (2007) has been defunct for some time now. But Sunny Deol has taken it upon himself to revive it.

“It is my dream to restart Vijayta Films. The banner
hasn’t has a release since 2008. I’m working towards making it synonymous with the Deol family name,” says Sunny, who has finished shooting the sequel of the 2011 hit Yampla Pagla Deewana (YPD).

The film will mark his onscreen re-union with his father, Dharmendra and younger brother, Bobby. Expanding the ambit of the banner, the actor is also planning to distribute the film under it. The prequel was distributed under his other company, YPD Films Ltd. “This year, I want to shift my focus to marketing my films.

We have decided to distributing all our films via our home banner from now on,” says Sunny. The actor is also working on a sequel to the 1990 hit Ghayal. However, he admits that reviving the old banner won’t be a cakewalk.

“It is not easy. I hope that with Ghayal Returns, the banner will be alive again. We launched Imtiaz Ali with Socha Na Tha (2005). I want to produce and direct more love stories,” says Sunny, who will finish work on two films, Singh Saab The Great and Bhaiyyaji Superhitt, before starting Ghayal Returns.
