Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster: Mahie Gill and Randeep Hooda in a still from the film.
There is quite a buzz in the industry around the release of the second instalment of Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster. And as is the trend these days, even before audiences have a chance to appreciate or reject Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns, the director plans to continue the saga of
betrayal and politics with yet another film.
“At least one more movie should be made. I have ended the story in such a manner that I can take it forward,” says Tigmanshu. Though the director had a strong storyline in place while making the original, he was not sure if he would be able to continue it and make another film on the same subject. “While making Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, I was not sure about how
the audience would react to the story. When it became a huge success, I gained confidence and decided to make its sequel,” says Tigmanshu, who is simultaneously promoting the film and shooting his next, Bullet Raja, which has Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead.
The director has retained the entire cast from the original (except those who were bumped off) and introduced Irrfan and Soha Ali Khan to give a new twist. The director, however, claims that the sequel would be more deceptive than the original. “It is open ended, but this time it has more intrigue than the first one. People won’t be able to predict what they are going to see till the end,” says Tigmanshu.
Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns hits theatres on March 8.
