Reema Sen, last seen in Aakrosh (2011), is surprised at the attention her sensual character in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs Of Wasseypur (GOW) has garnered. “I never imagined that my back would become so famous. Everyone who has seen the film has come up to me and asked me about it. It was just a small

scene, but it seems to have got a lot of attention,” she says.

Quiz her about the striking resemblance of her figure with that of Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture, and she confesses, “While we were shooting GOW, size zero was in. But Vidya changed it all. She made voluptuous sexy. Honestly, had I come in before Vidya, I would’ve been termed fat.”

Her curvy avatar was one of the prerequisites for the role. “Anurag was keen that I look voluptuous, so he asked me not to lose weight.”

With few dialogues and a number of intimate scenes in the film, was she scared of being typecast? “I knew what my role was going to be like from day one. I’ve known Anurag since before he became a director. He explained my part clearly beforehand,” she says.

“Intimate scenes are no big deal. Besides, if you look at other movies, they have still a lot more ‘action’ in comparison to GOW. And it’s not like Bollywood has no nudity. So I was fine doing whatever I was told.”

In spite of her powerful performance, the actor was missing from the film’s promotions. Ask her why and she says, “I just got married three months ago, so I was on my honeymoon. I’ll be around for the promotions of the film’s second part, though.”

For now, Bollywood has taken a backseat for the actor. She says, “I’m very busy with films down south, so I don’t really feel the need to do a lot of Hindi cinema. I do films that interest me. Sometimes, those films don’t work, hence my roles go unnoticed. That’s the reason you feel I don’t do much work here.”
