Usually, one comes across instances where books are adapted into films. But this time around, a movie will inspire a novel, that too with a new twist. Advaita Kala, who has penned the script of forthcoming Vidya Balan-starrer Kahaani, is planning to write a novel on the same story line, albeit a bit
differently.

Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, Kahaani is the story of a pregnant woman's (Vidya Balan) search for her husband through the bylanes of Kolkata.

The film, a thriller, begins with the London-based and six-month pregnant Vidya Bagchi's arrival in Kolkata amidst the Durga Puja festivities. With nothing to rely on except fragments of her husband's memories, all clues seem to reach a dead end.

"Advaita is penning the story. She is going to write it a bit differently and it won't be like the film, as people would have seen the film and could get bored. So that will be something interesting to wait and watch out for. Advaita’s thought process is totally different, which is good," says Ghosh.

Ask the director if he is fine with this idea of a novel based on the film, and he says, "Yes, it is okay. I am sure Advaita will not do anything that would harm the film."

Kahaani will hit cinema houses on March 9, while the novel should release by the end of this year.
