Bizarre as it may sound, the latest song of Gangs of Wasseypur is called O Womaniya. The song, set in a rural setting, is both raw and rustic and rather comic.
The song begins with a comic scene where Huma Qureshi tells off a rather coy and sheepish Nawazuddin Siddiqui. In the background, one can hear women singing O Womaniya. The rest of the song is a montage of scenes where we can mostly see Manoj Bajpai lusting after Reema Sen and Richa Chaddha.
The music for Gangs of Wasseypur has been composed by Oye Lucky Lucky Oye music director Sneha Khanwalkar. The composer is known for making music from natural environment sounds. This fact is evident from the voices of the women singing in the background, which sounds typically like a celebratory song in a rural setting.
Gangs of Wasseypur was not only screened at the Cannes film festival but was also the longest-running entry at the fest. The film is a hard-hitting and graphic story about three generations of coal and scrap-trade mafia gangs in eastern India, obsessed with Hindi cinema.
The film stars Piyush Mishra, Manoj Bajpai, Reema Sen and Tigmanshu Dhulia and is scheduled to release in India on June 22.
