She shot to fame even before she was seen on screen. Sonakshi Sinha didn't make headlines just because she was film star Shatrughan Sinha's daughter but also because she made her debut cast was opposite Bollywood biggie Salman Khan in the blockbuster hit Dabangg.
Despite her not-so-flattering figure this Indian beauty certainly made her mark and held her own in Dabangg. For months, her famous dialogue from the film “Thappad se dar nahi lagta sahib, pyaar se lagta hai…” became one of the most quoted and spoofed dialogue.
Sonakshi Sinha and Salman Khan in her debut film Dabangg
The 25-year-old actress, who made her debut in 2011, would complete 6 films by the end of 2012, including the sequel to her iconic debut Dabangg.
The actress has faced a lot of flak for her flab and revealed that she lost some 30 kgs for her role in Dabangg!
However, this did not stop her from garnering several awards and critical acclaim for her role. Sonakshi, a qualified fashion designer herself, has featured on several magazines covers ever since.
Dabangg (2011): Sonakshi Sinha made a mark as Rajjo, the simple village girl that Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan) fell in love with. She was instantly touted as the next big thing in Bollywood
Rowdy Rathore (2012): Once again Sonakshi Sinha was seen in a rustic avatar as Paro, this time opposite Akshay Kumar. The film too was a hit

The much-talked-about photoshopped picture of Sonakshi Sinha on the cover of Maxim magazine
A photoshopped image of Sonakshi Sinha in a bikini on the December 2010 cover of Maxim magazine did the rounds creating quite a stir even before her debut film Dabangg released.
After Shirish Kunder’s film Joker flopped at the box office, there were reports that the director’s wife Farah Khan was angry with the film’s star Sonakshi Sinha. It was reported that the Om Shanti Om director was miffed with the fact that Sonakshi didn’t promote Joker the way she should have.
On being typecast as the Desi Girl
"If I get to play a character who will wear western clothes and if I am comfortable, I will do it. So far people have appreciated me like this (desi avatar). I am doing a lot of similar roles after this as well. But, of course, if I get the chance, I would want to play different roles as well."
On her reputation of being ever punctual
“Someone once told me that after Amit uncle (Amitabh Bachchan) and Akshay (Kumar), I’m the only punctual one. I felt privileged that my name was taken in the same breath as theirs. I’m always on time. You can call me even at 3 am and I’ll be there.” She adds, “I also take minimum time to get ready. Ask any of my directors and producers and they will agree.”
On the reported fallout with Farah-Shirish
"I was part of promotions. It is wrong to point fingers that I have not promoted the film. I know things are being written about me as well. I don’t think the result of the box office changes the equation between two people. Farah is very cordial to me, she is very nice to me there is no animosity with her. I have known Farah from before I interacted with Shirish when I signed the film. The working experience with Shirish was good. Farah is like an elder sister. It was wonderful to work with her when she was choreographing. She is jovial, full of life."
On being a workaholic
Sonakshi Sinha the fashionista
“Yes, I am a workaholic. I wake up and think of work and I’m working most of the day.”
On finding love
“Love will happen eventually. I can’t force it and neither can I push it away. Right now, I’d rather have people talk about my work.”
On getting married
“I don’t know what I will do tomorrow, marriage is something far off. “I am too young to get married. I’ve just entered the industry, why do you want to oust me so soon?”
