For those who’ve just taken a shine to make-up and its ability to transform just about any face, the variety of products on offer from a number of brands can be mind-boggling. To cut short your hunt for the perfect basics, we got three experts to select favourites they swear by. Virginia Holmes and Natasha Nischol, owners, Fat Mu Make Up Academy, and Sholeen Damarwala, beauty editor, Strut120.com, share their picks.
Concealer is one of the basics in makeup.

a good option for those creating a smoky-eye look.

Virginia and Natasha’s Winner: M.A.C Ruby Woo – Bold, matte and simply stunning. It’s a shade that works on most people and has good staying power. Perfect for a statement lip.
Runners up: M.A.C Lady Danger and Revlon Fire And Ice.
Sholeen’s Winner: Opium Red by YSL – A red lipstick is probably a one-time purchase for many, so I would recommend splurging on this one. It suits almost every skin tone, glides on smoothly and shines brighter than the sun.

Virginia and Natasha’s Winner: L’Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes – Intensely black; it thickens, lengthens and defines lashes without looking overdone. It’s good for sensitive eyes and stays put all day.
