Get set to be high on fashion as Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) Spring/Summer 2013 takes over the Capital today.
From front row spotting and backstage chaos to the display of creativity on the ramp, it’s time for pure fashionable indulgence. Designers Payal Pratap and Anand
Kabra will open the show at Pragati Maidan today. Kabra’s collection is inspired by 17th century singer-dancer Taramati and will incorporate whites, reds black and gold.
Later in the day, the North-East show by designer Atsu Sekhose will display a collection which he says is “Contemporary tribal meets American sportswear.” Designer Wendell Rodricks, whose designs will also be showcased today, says, “My designs will represent a voyage that starts from Goa and culminates in Shanghai, in the backdrop of the 18th century.” Called Ocean Oriente, his creations include sarongs and silk coats in soft pastel shades.
Day 1 will end with a special presentation by Indo-Dutch collaboration, Dutch Fashion Here & Now. Designer duo DIED (Diederik Verbakel and Marieke Holthuis) will collaborate with Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, while Jan Taminiau and Suneet Varma will showcase together. Veteran designer Ritu Kumar will conclude the five-day fashion gala on October 10.
