Brit designer Alexander McQueen did it, as did Louis Vuitton and Ralph Lauren. With live streaming of fashion shows on the Internet the new trend internationally, India is not far behind. The Wills
Lifestyle India Fashion Week, to be held in Delhi between March 24-28, will be the country’s first fashion event to have an online simulcast.

FDCI president Sunil Sethi confirms, “We want the event to reach millions of people instead of a select few. Our reach has to be wider — it’s good for both the designers and the sponsors. We’ll soon finalise how and where we’ll live stream.” With YouTube is an option being considered since its the hot favourite for live streaming events such as IPL and film fests.

Designers obviously are happy. Says Charu Parashar, “It will help buyers to see our shows instantly and wherever they are.”

However, people also have apprehensions. “It’s a trade fair. Live streaming may dilute the business side,” says actress Gul Panag, who was the ‘Twitter face’ of the WLIFW last year.
