Rs 8500 makeup, just for Facebook?

Young girls in the city are putting their best face forward on social networking sites, even it if means blowing up a few thousand bucks to get that perfect profile picture.
“Girls want to look their best in the photos that they put up on various social networking sites, including
Facebook, and they come to us to get High Definition (HD) makeup done, which makes their face look natural yet flawless especially in the front of the camera,” says beauty expert Aashmeen Munjaal.
The cost of getting an HD makeover is upward of R8,500, but that hasn’t deterred girls from turning up in huge numbers in city salons.
“Until some years ago, women asked us to make their skin-tone two shades lighter, but now, nude HD makeup is in. This makeup camouflages blemishes, spots and contours and ensures great pictures that don’t need to be photshopped,” says Komal Gulati, a hair and make-up expert.
Explains Richa Aggarwal of Cleopatra Spa & Salon, “Now everyone owns a DSLR or a D5 camera, which catches even the slightest flaws on the face. Our young clientele gets HD makeup for special occasions because they want just the perfect pictures for FB,” she says.
Nandini Sharma, a school student who used HD makeup for her school farewell, shares, “I had acne a few weeks before the function, and HD makeup came to my rescue. My pictures on FB have got the highest likes ever.”
