For the first time, Leavesden Studios, home for 10 years to Harry Potter films, will open its doors on March 31 for tours of the sets, props, costumes and magic of the most successful film franchise at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London.
About 20 miles (30 km) outside of London, visitors can walk in the footsteps of the wizard Harry and his friends in this behind-the-scenes look at details in close-up. Secrets will be revealed about the special effects, animatronics and building models.
Some of the highlights on the tour include:
• Explore the actual Great Hall and peek inside Dumbledore's office
• See real iconic props such as Harry's Nimbus 2000 and Hagrid's motorcycle
• Stroll Diagon Alley, Ollivanders wand shop, Flourish and Blotts, the Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, Gringotts Wizarding Bank and Eeylops Owl Emporium
• Discover the Gryffindor common room, boys' dormitory, Hagrid's hut, Potion's classroom and Professor Umbridge's study at the Ministry of Magic.
A three-hour, mostly self-guided tour of the beloved locations where all eight Harry Potter films were shot is open for visitors to wander through the exhibits, including hands-on interactive displays that replicate the experience of being in the films.
A 1:24 scale model of Hogwart's Castle provides a 360-degree view of the 50-foot (15 m) wide building for aerial photography. More than 2,500 fiber optic lights simulate torches passing through hallways.
Leavesden was originally an aircraft factory and was turned into a film studio for the 1994 James Bond production of GoldenEye, prior to Warner Bros. leasing the site in 2000 to make the first Harry Potter film.
Unlike the Wizarding World of Harry Potter currently at Universal Studios Orlando and scheduled to come to Hollywood's theme park, this attraction tours the real spaces where Harry Potter films were shot. Tickets range from £21.00 (€25) (child) and £28.00 (€33) (adult) to £83.00 (€99) (family).
