Oscar-award winning filmmaker Ang Lee’s Life of Pi has become the highest Hollywood grosser of 2012 in India.
A big screen adaptation of Canadian author Yann Martel’s Booker prize-winning novel of the same name, the film — that released here in in 2D and 3D in English, Hindi, Tamil and
Telugu — grossed Rs. 85 crore with Rs. 60 crore net, and is still running, according to a statement by its distributors.
The film has also become the third highest Hollywood grosser of all time here beating The Amazing Spider-Man and The Avengers. The top two spots are being held by Avatar, currently at Rs. 142 crore gross and 2012 at Rs. 90 crore gross respectively.
