The 85th Academy Awards had a musical theme this year, with highlights such as singer Adele’s Oscar-winning theme song, Skyfall, which received a standing ovation, along with an Oscar trophy. Dame Shirley Bassey, Norah Jones and Barbra Streisand also performed. However, Streisand got a thundering
applause, as this was her first Academy Awards performance since 1977 when she sang the winning song from A Star Is Born. Jennifer Hudson commanded the stage for And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going from Dreamgirls. The evening ended just as it started, with host Seth MacFarlane onstage. He sang a tribute to “the losers” of the Oscars with Kristin Chenoweth, calling out the nominees who went home Oscar-less.
