The makers of The Avengers are taking another step to tap the Indian market. They want to dub the film in Hindi and release it along with the English version on April 27, 2012. “The production house is keen to rope in Bollywood stars to give voiceovers for the different characters,” says an industry informer.
The upcoming American superhero film, that is directed by Joss Whedon, will bring together various Marvel characters like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Incredible Hulk (Lou Ferrigno), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) to help save the Earth from annihilation. Apparently, getting the right people to dub for Iron Man and his love interest Pepper (played by Gwyneth Paltrow in the original series) is proving to be tricky.
“So far, for the Hindi version, several names have been discussed. But they decided to approach Ranbir Kapoor
and Deepika Padukone
for the Iron Man couple,” says the source. Interesting, the couple that was in a serious relationship earlier, has also been roped in for Wake Up Sid (2009) director Ayan Mukherjee’s yet untitled next, which is a love story. “The estranged couple will be approached early next year,” says the informer.
The official spokesperson of the production house remained unavailable for comment. The action movie, distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, has been produced by Marvel Studios. Continuing the trend seen with several recent Hollywood films, The Avengers hits the big screen in India a week before it opens in the US (May 4).
