Cast member Shailene Woodley poses on the red carpet.
Shailene Woodley, revealed last year in Alexander Payne's The Descendants, has just started negotiating with Sony Pictures to join the production. She would play Mary Jane Watson, the girl next door who married Peter Parker in the Marvel comics.
If a deal goes through, Shailene Woodley's character would have to fight Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) over Peter Parker's affections in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Andrew Garfield will take the title role, under the direction of Marc Webb.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will start production early next year, and the movie is set to hit theaters in May 2014.
