Her filmography boasts of over a dozen international projects, but none has had the kind of financial grandeur as her latest British flick, Anna Karenina, says actor Tannishtha Chatterjee — who couldn’t say no to it for obvious reasons.
Directed by English filmmaker Joe Wright, the flick
was reportedly made on a budget of over Rs260 crore and stars British actors Keira Knightley and Jude Law in the lead. Adapted from Leo Tolstoy’s 1877 novel of the same name, Tannishtha calls it the Russian version of the The Mahabharata and admits that she doesn’t “have a big part in the film.” “I met Joe for another film which didn’t happen. It was a great experience,” the actor told us while she was in the Capital to perform in a play.
Though she doesn’t share screen space with Keira, Tannishtha is excited about her Bengali song in the flick, which was penned and composed by Wright’s wife and Pandit Ravi Shankar’s sitarist daughter, Anoushka Shankar. “I have a Bengali song in the film. But for me, the great thing was to meet Panditji and make him listen to the song. He pointed out mistakes in the lyrics and we corrected them,” said the actor, who is known for her power-packed roles in Brick Lane and Road, Movie.
Tannishtha is also on a high because she has been named as the only Indian in the IMDb list of 200+ actors, directors, writers and
At present, her kitty is full with projects such as BMW, Dekh India Circus, Moonsoon Shootout, Jal, Gaur Haridastan, Sunrise and Bhopal: A Prayer For Rain.
