Twenty-odd films will be part of the Festival’s top Competition section vying for the Palm d’Or and others awards.

The Festival’s official lineup – Competition, A Certain Regard and Special Screenings – will be revealed at a Press conference in Paris on April 19.

Roth is a well-known actor, who began his career in television before stepping on to the big screen with Stephen Frears’ The Hit. He first came to Cannes in 1994 with Quentin Tarantino’s cult work, Reservoir Dogs, which won the Palm d’Or for Best Picture.  Roth became internationally famous overnight.

A year later, Roth was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Rob Roy helmed by Michael Caton-Jones. Roth directed his first film in 1999: The War Zone, which got nominations at Cannes, Sundance and Toronto. He also appeared in The New World helmed by Terrence Malick, Don't Come Knocking by Wim Wenders, Planet of the Apes by Tim Burton, Funny Games by Michael Haneke and Everyone Says I Love You by Woody Allen. Since 2009, Roth has been starring in the lead role of the highly successful American television series, Lie to Me.
