Read: Pamela Sinha Mathur, author, Of Love & Lovers
My Family and Other Animals Gerald Durrell
Written by a renowned naturalist and environmentalist, this book follows the Durrell family during their stay on the Greek island of Corfu. The eccentricities of the family members and the mesmerisingly meticulous description of the flora and fauna of the island is one treat that never fails to bring a smile on my face.

The Devotion of Suspect X Keigo Higashino
This suspense novel with its stunningly unexpected denouement left me enthralled till the very end. It is a must-read in my opinion, especially for suspense and mystery lovers.

The Hungry Tide Amitav Ghosh
The author weaves a beautiful story of love and adventure, set in the fascinating yet forbidding landscape of the Sunderbans. The brilliance of this novel lies in the portrayal of this corner of India where human life hangs on a precarious thread as the inhabitants struggle against the ravages of nature for their day to day sustenance.

Ladies Coupe Anita Nair
The novel traces the life of the protagonist, a middle aged, unmarried woman grappling with the age old question — can a woman stay single and be happy or does she need a man to feel complete? It’s a favourite for its powerful yet sensitive narration of a woman’s search for her own identity.

Love Story Erich Segal
A simple rich-boy-meets-poor-girl type of love story and yet it has touched hearts worldwide.  This book makes me cry, no matter how many times I have read it before and that’s what makes it one of my favourite books.

Listen: Nigel Rajaratnam, multi-instrumentalist, composer
Dive Tycho
This album was recommended to me by Hayden Scott from Stella by Starlight. It has such an incredible
soundscaping with really tasteful use of guitars and synths.

Rivers and Homes J Viewz
This is a fantastic album by arguably one of the most talented electronic producers ever — J Viewz. The album has some really great sounds. And apart from being a great musician, Viewz is also a really cutting edge visual artist.

Secret Story and We Live Here Pat Metheny
They have been some of my all-time favourite albums. I listen to it sometimes even today, and there is always something new to discover. A very interesting version of this album is by Bob Curnlow, titled Bob Curnow’s L.A. Big Band Plays The Music of Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays, which is a great add on. It has tones of great melodic and harmonic ideas by Metheny combined with the genius of Lyle Mays.

Crying Over Pros for No Reason edIT
It is literally the original precursor to the skrillex sound from 10 years ago. Incorporating production methods and rhythmic ideas that were way ahead of its time, this album is an all-time Glitch bible.

Modal Soul Nujabes
A great album by the Jazz genius Nujabes. This album never fails to envelop you in a tidal wave of soul, warmth and taste. If the world has to end any time soon, this should be the last thing heard by the living.

Eat: Hitesh Keswani, owner and director, Nom Nom
Silver Beach Café Juhu Done up in a swanky glass facade of French windows and intimate booth seating, it makes for an ideal space for a romantic date. The menu offers an array of starters with an interesting twist of flavours of the east and the west rolled into one, like English Cheddar stuffed Mushroom Tempura and Veggies with a
hint of Wasabi.

Aer at Four Seasons Hotel Worli
The panoramic view of the city, the glitzy skyscrapers, crumbling mills, sea views and the endless ceiling of sky and stars is more like the essence of Mumbai. Covering the entire roof of the hotel, this open-air lounge creates an atmosphere of relaxation above the bustling streets of Worli.

Pali Village Café Bandra
What I love the most about this eatery are the dishes Roasted Red Pepper and Jalapeno Hummus, and Chicken Skewers. Each component is delicious, offering an array of textures, tastes and visual appeal. The Pan-fried John Dory is fresh and succulent, served in a tangy, peppery cream sauce.

Cellini at Grand Hyatt Santacruz The Risotto, Spinach Gnocchi and lobsters served here are delicious and authentically prepared. Celini is my pit stop when I get a bout of munchies on my way home. The service is pleasant enough.

Govinda’s Juhu A pure vegetarian restaurant, the dishes are exotic and rich with a variety of breads, mouthwatering sweets and desserts. Eating at Govinda’s not only satisfies your palate, but also elevates your consciousness.   — HTC

Watch: Aishwarya Sakhuja, actor
Pretty Woman 1990
This is a great rom-com which is a classic even till date. I believe it was one of actor Julia Roberts’ major breakthrough films. It’s enjoyable to watch and brings a smile to your face always.

Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar 1992
Once in a while, there is a movie created with pain-taking effort and care. This film actually involves you and entertains all throughout and leaves you longing for more.

Chandni 1989
The film has all the elements that the late Yash Chopra is known for — wonderful music, Switzerland, heroines dressed in white (which became the rage among women in India), and a profusion of emotion.

Mr. India 1987
This classic from the ‘80s is one of the few sci-fi films to be produced in India. And incidentally, it is also one of the best. It has an
interesting and intelligent story that makes for good family entertainment. This movie will make you smile, laugh and cry.

In the Name of the Father 1993
Words cannot accurately describe how affecting this movie is. It captures the mood and that era perfectly, a movie which works for
someone like me.
