A Thai dancer performs at the Indo-Thai cultural festival in Hyderabad.
To get an insight into Thai culture, head to the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) today, where a group will put on a dance performance that showcases different cultures of the region. Titled Destination Thailand, the cross-cultural event used to be conducted on a small scale
earlier, but for the first time the Royal Thai Consulate General in Mumbai is organising it on a large scale.

“The Tata Theatre can accommodate thousands of people. So we would like people to come and enjoy these dance performances,” says an officer from the Royal Thai Consulate-General, adding, “If the response is good, we might plan to organise the event annually.”

The dancers are a group of students from Thailand’s Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University. They have come down to present 16 dance forms. Guests will be served Thai snacks before the show and will be gifted a fruit and souvenir.

Destination Thailand will be held today at the Tata Theatre, NCPA, from 7.30 pm. Admission on a first come, first serve basis. Call 2282 4567 for details.
