Does The Dewarists strike a chord with you? The music show, an initiative by Dewar’s, is ready with its second season and a great lineup of desi and international musicians. Coming from diverse music backgrounds, these artists collaborate while exploring beautiful destinations across the country, to compose a song.

Produced in a music documentary-travelogue format, the TV show that simulcasts on YouTube, was “founded as a movement recognising and celebrating individuals who have changed the rules of the game,” says Manish Seth from Dewar’s. Sharing his experience of working on the show, music composer Salim Merchant says: “I had seen some episodes from last year and loved the idea. To be a part of the show was amazing. We came up with a beautiful song in just a few hours.”

While singer-actor Monica Dogra will host the show, her band Shaa’ir + Func will feature in an episode. “We’ve shot in places I’ve never explored, and with musicians new to me… Many episodes this year are truly unchartered terrain, in terms of the coupling of artists,” she says.

Other artists to be seen this season, which will air on Star World starting October 28, include celebrated sitarist Anoushka Shankar, Delhi’s electronic artists Dualist Inquriy and Nucleya, classical vocalist Shafqat Amanat Ali from Pakistan, musician Fink from London, hip-hop DJ/composer Brooklyn Shanti from New York, folktronica duo Hari & Sukhmani, folk musicians La Pongal from Chennai, and lyricist-actor-director Piyush Mishra, among others.

Fink, who will be seen grouped with Salim-Sulaiman and Shafqat Amanat Ali, says, “It was a bizarre combination, but that was the challenge. And, since we all love music, we did good. I’m sure this won’t be the last time that I hang out with these guys.”
