This year seems to have been very lucky for Vishal and Shekhar. After supplying tunes for movies like Anjaana Anjaani and Break Ke Baad earlier in the year, the duo also made music for Tees Maar Khan most recently. Apart from that, they have been seen and heard at the
numerous sprinkles of corporate and college events in the middle.
Now, Vishal and Shekhar will be flagging off the New Year with a live performance for a private party at Aamby Valley City alongside other performers such as Malaika Arora Khan.
But it’s the music for SRK’s highly anticipated RA.One that’s the real deal. The duo has already collaborated with international hip-hop singer Akon on the music soundtrack, and according to the latest developments, even industrial rock act The Prodigy may be involved.
“We’ve spoken to Prodigy for collaborating with us. They’ve shown interest and talks are in progress,” mentions Vishal, whose band, Pentagram, will also open for the band at The Invasion Festival in January next year.
“It’s for a song based on Dussehra celebrations. I hope it works out, but they haven’t confirmed yet,” he adds. “We aim to finish working on the RA.One soundtrack by around January. We’re also doing the score for the movie. But the interesting thing is that the score will be treated like songs. We’ve never done that before,” adds Shekhar. “It’s been very cool working with director Anubhav Sinha as he’s got a fantastic ear for music. He knows all about it — be it classical, hip hop and what not. So the experience has been unique.”
Vishal-Shekhar also have Dostana 2 and David Dhawan’s Rascals on the cards. “It’s Sanjay Dutt’s first production and we’re going to do some hardcore commercial stuff. It’s going to be a blast,” says Vishal.
What about going solo? While Vishal isn’t working on anything currently, Shekhar plans to release his solo album by the end of 2011. “I’ve written a couple of songs already and plan to work on the rest through 2011. I want to keep the music organic, real, live and simple,” he adds.
