Paul van Dyk
He is one of the first superstar DJs in the world, and the only one to hold a spot in the World’s Top 10 DJs list, since 1998. But guess who’s on German Grammy Award-winning DJ Paul van Dyk’s wishlist — Indian music maestro AR Rahman.

“I’d love to collaborate with him. I’ve always wanted
to,” Paul told HT City over phone from Berlin. “But I don’t think he (Rahman) has time for me. He is so busy doing so many projects. He is really famous,” added Paul.

The forty-year-old Electronic Dance Music DJ will perform at Shiro in the Capital today, as part of his Evolution World Tour 2012. He will then head to Mumbai for a gig tomorrow.

Rahman“India is such a rich cultural country. I always look forward to be there. I’ve been to India six times so far but I have only been to Mumbai and Goa. This is my first time I’ll go to Delhi,” said the Hollywood music producer, who is gaga over Bollywood music.

“One thing that I really like about Bollywood music is that in a way it reflects an ideal world — how it should be. I find that very inspiring,” said Paul, who last watched the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Rockstar, with subtitles.

Concentrating only on his new album, Evolution, currently Paul is on a break from movies. His last big screen project was Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, for which he remixed the theme and bagged a Grammy. “It was a great artistic challenge,” he said.
