like Akon, Akcent, among others. Wajhi Farooq, the vocalist of the band, talks about its music and more.
What sort of music can we expect from the band?
How did the band come together?
We all went to the same school and used to dream of becoming big by doing some thing out of the box. And here we are today!
Why this name?
Initially, when Raeth was being formed, we had no name in mind, but I once dreamt of a Sufi saint who came out of the water and picked up the watery sand in his hand, which reflected different shades of light. Hence, Raeth is about spreading love in different shades.
What do you think people remember most about your gigs?
The band is all about being rebellious and making people party hard. Our performance has to be out of the box.
What do you think of the music scene in Delhi?
The music scene here is similar to that in Karachi. Youngsters here are ready to play covers and jam at cafes. Rock music is growing, as major bands have come here recently.
What, according to you, has been the inspiring song, event and artist for the band?
‘Tum meri ho’ has been the most inspiring song for us so far. Because all of us have been through a break-up phase, it suits us. The most inspiring band for us is GN’R.
If you could play at any gig in the world, it would be...
Wembley! Legends have performed here. Let’s see, you never know, we could be there too one day.
What has been the best moment for the band?
After the release of our song, ‘Bhula do’, we played cricket and slept. We woke up the next morning to find that we were all over the world, as our number had been featured on the charts. We had about 100 missed calls.
Making music or listening to music, what do you three enjoy more and why?
Depends on our mood, we enjoy both. While driving, it has to be listening. Making music remains our first love anyways.
If not musicians, you two would be.....
If not music then still would have been musicians. If not a full-fledged band as we are today, we would have probably been a duo sitting at the India Gate and making people happy through our songs and compositions.
