Ustad Amjad Ali Khan performs in Bangalore on Monday during Samagaam, a live concert with Scottish Chamber Orchestra at Chowdiah memorial hall.
In the age of self-touting autobiographies, here comes a refreshing, honest tribute. Sarod maestro, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan pays an ode to his  father and guru Ustad Haafiz Ali Khan Saheb on his 40th death Anniversary today, by way of the pen. In his book, called My Father, Our
Fraternity, which releases today, Khan narrates how Ustad Haafiz Ali was, by example, completely devoted to the purity and sanctity of music, which permeated every aspect of his daily life, and at the basis of which was a deep and fundamental love for music, humanity and God, which, for him, were inseparable from one another.  “As my guru, along with music, he also taught me the lessons of love, compassion, humility, forgiveness and the strength of faith,” says Ustad Amjad Ali. His sons, Amaan and Ayaan, are as awed. “He was an artist way ahead of his times. I feel blessed to be a part of his musical legacy,” says Ayaan.
