They made their childhood dream a reality and are today known for belting unique EDM beats. The dubstep duo of Skream and Benga are on their debut Indian tour and will take the city crowd by storm tonight.
“I haven’t been to India before at all. It’s a part of the world that I haven’t
even graced once. It’s always exciting to see people’s reactions to your music if you haven’t been somewhere. It’s exciting,” says Benga, who released the first album with Skream at the age of 15.
Music has always been his first passion. “I’ve liked music since I was really young and I knew from the age of nine that I’d be making music. I started DJing when I was about 11 and producing when I was 12, so I realised I was going to be doing this as my job,” says the 26-year-old British musician.
So how did they both come together? “Our elder brothers met each other and they knew each other quite well and ended up passing my number to Skream. He rang me one night, and just said hello and we started playing each other’s songs on the phone. And then we kind of started meeting up,” he adds.
Talking about their performance, supported by Wild City, here, he says, “We’ll play loads of new stuff. It’s the first time we’ve been to India, so we’re bringing some of our classics, some of our old ones we really like and then my new album, the Magnetic Man album, and Skream’s new album,” he says.
