At the age of 16, she came into the limelight as the voice behind the hit song Ruki Ruki Thi Zindagi from the film Mast, and since then, there has been no looking back for singer Sunidhi Chauhan.
Known for chartbusters such as Sheila Ki Jawaani, Beedi Jalaile, Desi Girl, and Ishq Sufiyana,
among others, the 28-year-old singer is looking forward to judging the singing based reality show Indian Idol 6, along with music composers Anu Malek and Salim Merchant.
“I am amazed, happy and content at the kind of talent we have got on the show. Our priority is to find a good voice — a voice that has the magic to connect with everyone,” says Chauhan. “In season five, we concentrated on complete packaging, and in the process, we missed out on some great talent while selecting the contestants. So, this time around, we are only concentrating on the voice, as we feel grooming can take care of the looks,” she adds.
Ask her about competition from other reality shows, and Chauhan says, “I wouldn’t like to compare Indian Idol with other shows. It’s in its sixth season and people wait for it every year.”
Apart from things looking good on the professional front, the singer’s personal life is also moving in a positive direction, with her upcoming marriage to music composer Hitesh Sonik. “Though we haven’t announced the date yet, it is going to happen very soon,” says Chauhan.
