There’s no bigger platform to make a statement than a well-attended opening ceremony. Aftab Shivdasani showed that there was some rivalry off the field in the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), when he kept taking digs at former teammate, Riteish Deshmukh.
Seems like it's a good alternate career option for Aftab Shivdasani because his Bollywood career seems to be fading.
The latter, who was the vice-captain
of Mumbai Heroes, quit the team after the last season to form a new one named Veer Marathi. Aftab was subsequently appointed vice-captain in his place.
At the event on Sunday, Riteish and co-host Ayushmann Khurrana called the Mumbai Heroes on stage to introduce the team. But when Riteish asked Aftab how well he knew his team, the actor laughed and said, “You were with the team for two seasons, so you know the team better... You tell me about the team.”
While Riteish chose not to comment, Aftab continued jovially bringing up how the former left the team in a lurch. Aftab even joked that to honour Riteish’s decision to quit, music composer duo Sajid-Wajid were dedicating their song, ‘Dagabaaz’ from Dabangg 2 (2012) to Ritiesh.
The song was then played promptly. Meanwhile, Riteish took the digs sportingly. Finally, Aftab’s teammate Sohail Khan salvaged the situation. “Riteish was one of our finest players, and in this league, we are not going to fight. We’re 22 guys playing among each other,” he said. Sohail even hugged Riteish while leaving the stage, following which Aftab did the same.
