She may not be speaking to the media after the suicide of her 56-year-old daughter Varsha in October, but singing legend Asha Bhosle is coping with the loss, reveals her Sur-Kshetra co-judge singer Runa Laila. “She is coping. We discussed it (about the death of Varsha) with her. But how
much can you help?” Laila, 60, told us in an interview in Dubai, adding, “She is a very kind-hearted and jovial person. Her energy level at this age is commendable. I’m sure it is hard but she’ll get through this.”

Both Laila and Bhosle were in Dubai for the grand finale of Colors’ Indo-Pak musical reality show along with their show co-judge Abida Parveen and guest judges Ismail Darbar, Suresh Wadkar, Ghulam Ali and Sajjad Ali. It airs tonight.

While Bhosle and Parveen represented India and Pakistan respectively on the show, Laila found her job “pretty tasking one to act as a neutral judge from Bangladesh.”

But she was happy at the whole “intention of the programme which was to bring harmony to both the countries through music.” Meanwhile, Laila, who has to her credit Bollywood songs such as Mera Babu Chail Chabila and Do Deewane Sheher Me is also planning a comeback in the industry. “There is something. Hopefully, it will start soon. But let’s keep it a secret right now,” she said.
