Films and cricketers are arguably India’s top two entertainers. So when they come together, it’s a given that the event will be a grand one. This year, the organisers of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) have come up with a rather interesting idea for their opening ceremony. They will have actor Bipasha Basu
teaching cricketer Andrew Symonds her moves from Beedi Jalaile, her hit number from Omkara (2006).

Anuj Rai, corporate communication manager, CCL, says, “Our league has actors playing cricket, so we thought it would be a good idea to put cricketers in the actors’ shoes. We wanted cricketers who can dance well, so we decided to get Bipasha to test Andrew’s dance skills and see if he qualifies to become a movie star.”
The Australian cricketer landed in the city on Thursday, and with the event taking place this Saturday, he will have a few days to rehearse the act.
“We also have Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif performing at the event. Ayushmann Khurrana and Riteish Deshmukh will anchor the show. Our endeavour is to make it as unique as possible, compared to other shows,” says Rai.
“Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya will also be on stage, quizzing the actors on their knowledge of cricket. So on one hand, we have cricketers testing the skills of actors and on the other, an actor will test the (dance) skills of a cricketer.”
