Emraan Hashmi turns 34 today. With two big projects slated for release early this year, the 'serial kisser' is riding on high waves. Ekta Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj's joint venture Ek thi Daayan is scheduled to release in April while UTV Productions plan to release Ghanchakkar in July. Take a look at his Bollywood journey.
Emraan Hashmi and Mahesh Bhatt share a close bond — professional as well as familial. That may probably explain what the filmmaker had to say about his actor nephew when he received a swanky phone as a gift from him.

“Getting a present from Emraan is nothing short of a miracle. He gifted me
the phone only after I held a gun to his head and threatened him with dire consequences. Emraan is the stingiest guy on earth, but no one knows this. The serial kisser is tight-fisted. He will put his hand in his pocket, but will remove it half way, empty as if there’s a reptile inside,” jokes Mahesh, visibly thrilled to have received a gift from his nephew.

Ask Emraan about the gift and he says, “Bhatt saab has always been a mentor and a huge inspiration. The gift was a small token of my appreciation.”

Mahesh feels that Emraan doesn’t need an occasion to shower him with goodies. “He’s supposed to cater to my whims. He owes his present success to some contribution that I may have made on ground zero. I am like the mafia who gets a kickback. There is nothing more gratifying than getting him to spend his money on gifts.”

In the past, Emraan has gifted Mahesh a Kindle, iPad 3 and even cash.

“I had asked for Rs. 50,000 in cash to give to a charity and he gave it to me. He bought a Kindle for me when he went to Denmark and now a Samsung Galaxy S3. But he owes me much more. This is chicken feed,” Bhatt jokes.

He adds, “As determined he is about not spending money, I am equally determined to make him part with it.” Let’s see who wins this tug of war.
