As Farhan Akhtar turns 39 today, HT gets him candid on his birthday. The Bollywood actor talks about his favourite birthday gift ever. Read on to know his plans for the day.

You turn 39 years old today. What are your plans?

I am going to spend some quality

time with my family. Last year, I was in the middle of a hectic schedule. Plus I am not in a celebratory mood. The Delhi rape case is just one of the incidents responsible. But I am optimistic about 2013. After four or five years, I’m not in the middle of a shooting schedule on my birthday. So that feeling itself makes it very special for me. For me, a party’s scale is not important. It depends on the people who are with me at that point.

What presents are you expecting?

As we speak, my wife (Adhuna Akhtar) is giving me a haircut. That’s the biggest gift I could have asked for. This time around, my hair grew very long.

Which is your most memorable present?

Long ago, my father (Javed Akhtar) gave me my first guitar. I still remember it.
