Ameesha Patel had initially decided to keep quiet about recent reports claiming she lied about buying a 4,000sqft flat in Amitabh Bachchan’s neighbourhood in Mumbai, but she now says she has had enough. It was reported that Ameesha had not bought, but in fact rented the flat, and that the
property’s owner Harshad Valia had barred her from entering the premises. Ameesha retorts, “There were two flats in the building that I was considering. I wanted to rent one for Sanchita, the CEO of my company, and buy one for myself.
For the rented apartment, I paid him Rs.5lakh; there was no registration, just a letter of intent. After I had already spent Rs.30,000 on the renovations, Mr Valia changed colours, saying no filmy people could come to the flats. We called off the deal asking him to return our cheque, but he said that he had encashed it.
Now, he’s spreading rumours to save himself. I stay where I have been staying for the past five years. It’s not like I’m on the road.”
