Come April 30, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and actor Kalki Koechlin will celebrate their second wedding anniversary. And like other Bollywood couples, who have to work towards finding time for each other owing to their busy schedules, they too have made the effort to spend their special day together.
A source says, “Anurag will soon zoom off to attend the Cannes Film Festival. He is part of the Directors’ Fortnight, a parallel section of the festival. The fest takes place from May 16-26. On the other hand, Kalki has other engagements. So they have decided to wind up their work and spend some quality time together on the big day.”
Question Kalki about her plans and she says, “We are disappearing for three days and going where no one can find us.” Ask her what special gift will they exchange, and she replies, “I can’t tell you what we will be gifting each other. It will be a surprise.”
The source adds, “They will be in India, but have kept the destination under wraps as they don’t want to be disturbed. It could be Ooty.”
This break comes in the wake of recent rumours that their marriage is over. There were reports that Anurag was smitten by Kalki’s Ek Thi Daayan co-star Huma Qureshi, who worked with him in Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). Kalki’s absence from events that Anurag attended further fuelled the rumours even though all three involved claimed that everything was fine.
Anurag and Kalki had met on the sets of Dev D (2009) and news of them dating came out around the release of the film. The couple had a simple wedding ceremony amidst family and friends in Ooty in 2011, where Kalki’s mother lives. Being private people, the duo chose not to reveal much about their wedding.
