The 50th birthday of ex-supermodel Naomi Campbell’s Russian billionaire boyfriend Vladimir Doronin was celebrated with generous dollops of all things desi.
On Tuesday, the entire brigade of 150 high-profile international guests flaunted ethnic attire and dug into an elaborate Rajasthani dinner including bajre ki roti, ker sangri, kadhi, laal maas, ladoos and rasgullas at Jodhpur’s Mehrangarh Fort.

Supermodel Kate Moss and Hollywood actor Demi Moore dazzled in ethnic outfits by celebrity designer Manish Malhotra. Kate’s beige and ivory lehenga had intricate Kashmiri embroidery on it while Moore, too, chose a beige lehenga with an elaborate red, green and zari border. Victoria Secret’s angel Karolina Kurkova was also seen flaunting Malhotra’s creation. The host of the bash, Naomi Campbell, wore a Manav Gangwani fuschia lehenga and later changed into an Alexander McQueen dress.
Bright shamiyanas in red and orange were set up to double as mobile beauty parlours where foreigner guests could walk in to get the right makeup with their desi outfits. As the evening rolled on, the party moved from the Daulat Khana Chowk in the fort, where dinner was served, to a bar done up in pristine white interiors. The party, say sources, went on till 3.45am and the guests were seen enjoying every bit of their ‘India’ experience with little plans to retire to their rooms in the impressive Umaid Bhawan Palace hotel.
American singer Diana Ross was set to perform during a sit-down dinner for the guests on Wednesday.
Some of the Indian guests at the do included industrialist Parmeshwar Godrej, hotelier Vikram Chatwal, designers Manish Malhotra, Manav Gangwani and singer-actor Sophie Chaudhury.
