Fifteen years ago, a very young Kunal Kapoor moved to Mumbai from Amritsar with his family. In the process, the family had to sell their ancestral home at Majethi Road in the iconic Punjab town since all the relatives had shifted to different cities. Kunal, however, now plans to buy back his beloved former home from its current owners.
“It’s true that Kunal has plans to buy back his ancestral home. While shooting in Amritsar for Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, he got very nostalgic. In fact, he also visited his ancestral home and the memories just came flooding back,” says an insider. The home is so important for the actor that he is also ready to pay a hefty sum for it.
“We used to have a family home in Amritsar. But we had to sell it because we were moving to Mumbai and my uncle was also not there, so there was no other option. I have loads of memories attached to that home. And if I get the right opportunity, I would like to buy it back. In fact, some talks have already been initiated. So things have started to move towards that direction (buying the home),” says the Rang De Basanti (2006) actor.
He adds, “I have spent a large part of my childhood there, and even today when I go to Punjab, I feel like I’ve come back home.” Ask him about his upcoming release and the actor says, “For the first time, I am not nervous about the film. Maybe because I have watched it and I know that it has turned out really well.”
