Lisa Ray’s all set to pen her story

Actor Lisa Ray, who fought a one-year battle with myeloma (a cancer of the white blood cells), says that the disease has been her “biggest blessing”.

Indo-Canadian model and actor Lisa Ray is glowing after her 10-day honeymoon with husband Jason Dehni at Bora Bora Islands in French Polynesia.

“Yes, it was a surprise from him. It was like paradise on earth, with hardly any people around,” she shares, with a glint in her eyes. Without a

trace of mehendi or chura (red bangles significant of an Indian bride), it’s only the glow on her face and her sparkling new rock on the finger that gives away her newly married status. “I had a traditional Indian sangeet and mehendi ceremony, and a Christian wedding for which we wrote our vows,” she says. Ray reveals how romantic Dehni is when she shares the vow that he wrote for her. “When he said, ‘I accept you in all your glamorous colours and everyday greys. I love you with your beautiful hair and without them,’ I was floored,” she admits.

Ray, who was diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer in 2008, admits that life after cancer feels like a re-birth. And even professionally, Ray is on a high. She is writing a book about her life. “Though untitled, the first draft of the book is ready and it should be out by the end of next year,” she says. She is also set to begin shooting for Top Chef Canada (Season II) soon and has bought the rights to adapt the book — The Tiger Claw by Shauna Singh Baldwin, into a film.

Besides, she plans to collaborate with Dehni for the Lisa Ray Foundation which will focus on cancer research in India.
