Priyanka Chopra will team up with Emily Blunt and Tom Felton (who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series) as part of a global initiative to end neglected tropical diseases by 2020.
A hard-hitting video is being released featuring celebrities from around the world. “Basically, the idea is to call for support to control and eliminate seven diseases that plague more than one billion people, including half a billion children,” says an insider close to PC. The video will show top international actors and musicians witnessing the devastation that neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) cause, and also encourage fans to be part of the solution by joining the END7 campaign.
“Besides Priyanka, Emily (Looper, 2012) and (The Devil Wears Prada, 2006) and Eddie Redmayne, (Les Misérables, 2012) will also feature in it,” adds the insider. Other stars include Yvonne Chaka Chaka (South African pop star), Tom Hollander (from the Pirates Of The Caribbean series and Pride And Prejudice; 2005 fame) in the video. Priyanka and others join a growing cast of supporters including Katy Perry, Ewan McGregor, Alyssa Milano, Norah Jones, Rosanna Cash, Paula Abdul and Stella McCartney to help raise public awareness about NTDs.
When contacted, PC confirms: “I always like to be involved with causes. I try to do whatever I can to be of any help. It’s a cause that’s being taken up worldwide to eradicate these diseases by 2020 and I just wanted to lend a helping hand.”
